Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition: Shropshire O Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition: Shropshire

Our year 10 students have been traversing The Long Mynd today, as they completed the first section of their silver expedition.

The Shropshire hills are looking resplendent.

A good night’s sleep and we go again tomorrow.
As we reach the end of another week, we wanted to As we reach the end of another week, we wanted to say a huge **well done** to all of our students.

We made the decision to finish Period 3 a little early, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy an iced lolly before heading off to the weekend.

Our students have been absolutely magnificent throughout this week's heatwave. They have shown resilience, maturity and a positive attitude despite the challenging conditions, and we are incredibly proud of the way they have conducted themselves.

I'd also like to thank our staff, who have worked tirelessly to adapt the school day and support our students while prioritising their wellbeing throughout the week.

We hope everyone has a safe, restful and cooler weekend. 🌞🍦

Your resilience, positive attitude and continued focus on learning throughout the high temperatures have been greatly appreciated – thank you!

Although the weather is set to become cooler, students may continue to wear their PE kit to college each day if they wish. However, we would like to remind everyone that PE kit must be worn correctly and in line with our college expectations at all times.

Thank you to our students, families and staff for your continued support. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
🎓 Year 11 Prom – We're Almost Ready, Class of 2026 🎓 Year 11 Prom – We're Almost Ready, Class of 2026! ✨

The countdown is on! Final preparations are well underway, and we're almost ready to welcome our incredible Class of 2026 for a night to remember. Our team has been busy transforming the venue, and we can't wait to see everyone arrive in style!

A few reminders to help the evening run smoothly:

🚧 Please do not move the traffic cones or barriers that have been placed on the roads. They are there to help manage traffic safely and protect both our students and the local community.

🚗 Parking is available on the school field between 5:30pm and 7:00pm, with access via the Sports Centre entrance.

☀️ If you're coming along to watch the arrivals, it's set to be a warm evening. Please bring plenty of water, wear a hat, and apply suncream so you can enjoy the celebrations comfortably.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us make this a safe and memorable evening. We can't wait to celebrate the Class of 2026 and give them the send-off they deserve! 🎉✨

See you soon, Class of 2026! 🎓

📚 A Brilliant afternoon at Heffers Bookshop! Stud 📚 A Brilliant afternoon at Heffers Bookshop!

Students from Years 7–9 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Heffers Bookshop in Cambridge, made possible through £650 of funding from the Siobhan Dowd Trust.

Our students explored the Junior Fiction and Young Adult sections, taking time to browse, ask thoughtful questions, and choose books to bring back to college.

Staff at Heffers commented on how excellent, polite, and curious our students were — a real credit to the school. House Points will be awarded to everyone who attended.

For several students, this was their first ever trip into Cambridge, making the experience even more special. On the walk in and out they got to see the sights of Kings College and Fitzwilliam Museum.

📖 Keep an eye out for these new books appearing soon in the college library.
🚐 A big thank you to The Leys School for supporting us with minibus parking today.
🎶 Our Summer Concert l was simply brilliant. Watc 🎶 Our Summer Concert l was simply brilliant.

Watching our students perform with such confidence, joy, and sheer talent is one of the great privileges of working at BVC — and last night they absolutely delivered.

We are so proud of every single one of them.

Music has always been at the heart of what we do here. It cultivates creativity, builds character, and reminds us all why a broad education is exceptional.

Well done to everyone who performed, and thank you to our wonderful Music department for making it happen. 🎺🎹🥁
