College Improvement Plan

Our current 3 Year College Improvement Plan began this year, focusing on three priorities below:

College Improvement Plan 2025–26: Summary

Bottisham Village College’s College Improvement Plan (CIP) is sharply focused on improving teaching and learning, strengthening attitudes to learning, and ensuring inclusive outcomes for all students, particularly those with SEND. The plan is rooted in accurate self‑evaluation, informed by robust pupil performance, behaviour and attendance data.

Priority 1: Improving Attitudes to Learning

The college is embedding consistent, teacher‑led routines and high expectations across all classrooms to ensure calm, purposeful learning environments. A strong focus on relationships, positive regard and pride in work supports improved engagement, behaviour and wellbeing. Leaders use behaviour, punctuality and attendance data proactively to identify students at risk of disengagement and intervene early.

Priority 2: Raising Attainment, with a Sharp Focus on SEND

Teaching is being strengthened through explicit instruction, regular checks for understanding and responsive adaptation, ensuring all students—particularly those with SEND—make sustained progress from their starting points. Curriculum planning places strong emphasis on inclusion, Tier 3 vocabulary and high‑quality assessment. Leaders ensure SEND provision is evaluated rigorously so teaching, intervention and curriculum design are continually refined.

Priority 3: Strengthening Leadership and Management

Leadership at all levels is developing increased precision and impact. Middle and senior leaders use a structured calendar of quality assurance, review and coaching activities aligned to the Excellence Framework. Lesson visits, curriculum review and assessment analysis are used consistently to evaluate impact, support staff development and secure sustained improvement.

Impact and Sustainability

The CIP is implemented through a phased plan across the academic year, ensuring improvements are embedded and sustained. Leaders evaluate impact regularly and adapt actions where needed. Together, these priorities support the college’s ethos of being Inspiring, Caring and Enriching, ensuring students are well prepared academically, socially and personally for their next steps.
