Year 8 German in action! Our Year 8 students are Year 8 German in action!

Our Year 8 students are absolutely flourishing in languages. In a recent German lesson, pupils took part in a collaborative speaking activity, working together to guess the hobbies written on the cards stuck to their foreheads – with very impressive levels of adhesion involved!

It was fantastic to see such confidence, teamwork and laughter in the classroom, and staff have shared really positive feedback about the enthusiasm and progress being shown across the year group.

A brilliant snapshot of learning that is engaging, interactive and fun at Bottisham Village College 👏✨

📚 Year 10 Reading Champions – Making a Real Differ 📚 Year 10 Reading Champions – Making a Real Difference 📚

This morning, our fantastic Year 10 Reading Champions met with Mr Compton, Deputy Principal, who personally thanked them for the invaluable support they give to our Year 7 students.
Each week, the Reading Champions work alongside Mr Ricketts in the library, generously giving their time to support younger students with their reading. They are outstanding role models, showing patience, kindness and genuine leadership, and their impact across the college is greatly appreciated.

Mr Compton shared this message:

“I am not sure our magnificent Year 10 students realise the impact they can have on our younger year groups. They are incredibly skilful at engaging them with reading, giving them confidence and resilience. We are utterly indebted to them, and they exhibit every value that we want from BVC students.”

We are immensely proud of our Reading Champions and grateful for the positive difference they make every week. 🌟

Every school day at Bottisham Village College begins with a quiet sense of purpose.
As buses arrive, students step onto site and are warmly greeted by senior staff before making their way into school.

Some head to social spaces like the canteen, others choose the calm of the library. Students organise themselves, reconnect with friends, collect their thoughts and prepare for the day ahead.

These early moments matter. They set the tone for learning, independence and belonging — values that sit at the heart of life at BVC.

🎭🐉 Shakespeare’s Birthday & St George’s Day – 23 A 🎭🐉 Shakespeare’s Birthday & St George’s Day – 23 April

Today we’re marking a shared date in history by celebrating William Shakespeare’s birthday and St George’s Day.

Shakespeare’s words have shaped the English language and continue to help our students explore big ideas about people, choices, and the world around them. As he wrote, “This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England” — a reminder of how stories and language shape our sense of place and community.

St George’s Day also gives us a chance to reflect on values such as courage, respect, and doing the right thing, which sit at the heart of life at Bottisham Village College.

A great day to celebrate learning, culture, and the values we share.
