Preparing for Adulthood Event held on 24th March 10-2pm: at Burgess Hall, St Ives, PE27 6WU 

Dear Parent Carers,

We are holding a Preparing for Adulthood Event on 24th March 10-2pm, at Burgess Hall, St Ives, PE27 6WU to support parent carers who have young people with additional needs, aged 11 –25 years.  The event will be the themes of Preparing for Adulthood:

  • Health: including health transitions and annual health checks for children and young people with learning disabilities
  • Post-16 education, training, and employment
  • Community inclusion and friendships
  • Independence pathways

Event structure: There will be opportunities to hear general information from various stallholders and expert speakers, as well as to talk one to one with various professionals and organisations. The event is flexible, Parent/ carers can choose which sessions they would like to attend and do not need to attend the whole day. Sessions will be repeated during the event, and will be based on the Preparing for Adulthood themes as noted above. Parent carers will have the opportunity to provide feedback about their experiences on the day.

Coffee and refreshments: available on the day. There is also a Café at the leisure centre open during the day.
