Shame, Guilt and the Crucial Cs – An Exploration (CPD Workshop) Saturday, 26 February 2022
Presented by Kim Lee-Own
Counselling CPD Workshops are open to counselling students, practicing counsellors/psychotherapists and other professionals. The workshops can also contribute towards ‘The Advanced Certificate in Counselling Studies’
Shame and guilt are difficult emotions to deal with, whether a client’s or our own. Often, they leave us feeling disconnected, incapable, incompetent and insignificant.
This one-day workshop will focus on (mainly) Adlerian ideas, namely the Crucial Cs, as a way of understanding shame and guilt both personally and professionally and finding ways to help clients, (and ourselves), deal with and transform these difficult feelings.
The day will offer experiential activities, discussion and theoretical input and participants will have opportunities for reflection in small and large groups throughout the day.
This workshop is intended to help participants increase their awareness of their own and others’ experience of guilt and shame, understand how early experiences influence our current responses and safeguarding strategies related to shame and guilt feelings and our needs to belong, feel safe and significant in our daily lives. Most importantly, it will offer an opportunity to explore new ideas around working with shame and guilt in client work and personal development.
Hot water is available for drinks but please bring your own tea/coffee/milk. Please bring a packed lunch.
