Pottery - Tuesday

Would you like to explore your ‘inner potter’?

This course introduces you to a variety of techniques and new subjects in contemporary ceramics in a well-equipped studio.  Suitable for beginners and more experienced students, each class consists of a short demonstration and simple exercises through which you will be encouraged to build up your own interests and style.  Projects will include hand-building functional items such as decorative platters and vases, experimenting with modelling techniques and you will also have the opportunity to try throwing on our new Shimpo potters wheels.  We offer a good range of coloured slips and glazes making it possible to include plenty of different glazing and decoration techniques.

Your Tutor: Debora Cane

Debora is an enthusiastic art tutor with over 30 years’ experience.  Following a brief pottery apprenticeship with Chris Soule, she studied ceramics at Medway College of Design and set up her own ceramics studio which she ran in Cambridge for many years.  In recent years she has expanded her interests as a maker to include recycled materials; printed, stitched and dyed textiles; willow; acrylics; and pen & ink.
