Pottery - Thursday

Would you like to explore your ‘inner potter’?  If you are a complete beginner or have experience in working with clay, this course is for you!

This course introduces you to a variety of techniques and new subjects in contemporary ceramics in a well-equipped studio.  Suitable for beginners and more experienced students, each class consists of a short demonstration and simple exercises through which you will be encouraged to build up your own interests and style.  Projects will include hand-building functional items such as decorative platters and vases, experimenting with modelling techniques and you will also have the opportunity to try throwing on our new Shimpo potters wheels.  We offer a good range of coloured slips and glazes making it possible to include plenty of different glazing and decoration techniques.

Your Tutor: Roberta Capogna Bateman

With a foundation built through her science background as well as extensive workshops and specialized courses taken and taught over the last 30 years, Roberta brings a wealth of practical experience and a passion for helping others discover the art and the craft of pottery. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, her approach is supportive, personalized, and focused on technique, creativity, and personal growth as well as making each class enjoyable.
