Would you like to draft your own dressmaking patterns which will fit you perfectly? Then this course will teach you the skills required
A basic knowledge of sewing is an advantage to gain full benefit from this course. You will be taught through a mix of individual help from the tutor and demonstrations.
You will be taught to draft a perfectly fitting block pattern to your own measurements, which you can use in the future to create your own garments.
All style lines are taught in the first year, including collars, yokes, princess line, raglan, dolman sleeves, skirt lines and pleats (this is taught over three terms starting in September).
About Your Tutor
Pat trained at the London College of Fashion and worked in the fashion industry for 12 years before starting teaching. She has taught adult learners at Bottisham Village College for over 40 years.
What you will need to bring to the first session
- Tape Measure
- Scissors for cutting paper
- Set Square
- Pencil and Rubber
Basic tools and equipment for pattern cutting will be discussed at the first session.
Progression
Please note that in order to gain the full knowledge required to draft patterns for your own garments, it is necessary to start your course in September and continue for 2 further terms.
