Ethics and the Law in Counselling Practice (CPD Workshop) Saturday, 14 May 2022
Presented by Kathy Mitchell
Counselling CPD Workshops are open to counselling students, practicing counsellors/psychotherapists and other professionals. The workshops can also contribute towards ‘The Advanced Certificate in Counselling Studies’.
A good understanding of, and confidence in applying, the guidelines provided by BACP Ethical Framework are essential prerequisites of good practice in counselling & psychotherapy. Furthermore, an awareness of the law in relation to counselling practice can provide helpful guidance and often reassurance in managing complex situations and dilemmas.
In this one day interactive workshop we will consider a number of challenging cases and reflect upon the dilemmas they present both ethically & legally. We will consider strategies of best practice for avoiding and responding to complex situations. The workshop will include a combination of powerpoint presentations, whole group discussion and small group work.
The key learning objectives will be:
To develop a working knowledge of the BACP Ethical Framework.
To gain an awareness of legal issues in counselling with particular focus on contracting & confidentiality.
To increase practitioner confidence in the process of ethical decision making.
Hot water is available for drinks but please bring your own tea/coffee/milk. Please bring a packed lunch.
