Discover the Art of Writing

This practical and creative course is designed for students with some previous calligraphy experience who wish to develop their skills further and gain greater confidence in their work.

Building on existing knowledge, learners will refine their technique through the study of traditional and contemporary scripts, while exploring more advanced aspects of letterform construction, spacing, layout, and design. Students will be encouraged to develop their own personal style and approach to calligraphic work.

Throughout the course, participants will experiment with a range of calligraphic techniques, materials, and creative projects in a supportive and inspiring environment. There will also be opportunities to undertake more ambitious pieces of work.

Your Tutor: Liz Barrow

Liz is a Fellow of CLAS (Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society) and a CLAS Accredited Tutor. She has been teaching Adult Learning classes at a variety of venues since 2014 and enjoys sharing her passion for calligraphy with her students.

Alongside her teaching, Liz provides calligraphic services for the University of Cambridge and undertakes commissioned work, including certificates for Quakers and other marriage ceremonies.
