Calligraphy – Beginners / Improvers
Calligraphy - Beginners / Improvers
This is a practical and creative class for beginners and those with some prior calligraphic experience.
Beginners will be introduced to the broad-edged pen, combining study of calligraphic scripts with design and layout skills. Improvers will use skills learned previously to continue their personal script and design work. All students will have the opportunity to work towards a Certificate in Calligraphy if they wish.
Your Tutor: Liz Barrow
Liz holds the Certificate in Calligraphy and Bookbinding from the Roehampton Institute. Liz is a Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society Accredited Tutor. She has also undertaken the Society of Scribes and Illuminators’ Advanced Training Scheme. She provides calligraphic services to the University of Cambridge and also works to commission on projects such as certificates for Quaker and other marriages.

A list will be provided of extra things you’ll need as the course progresses. This list is available in advance, on request. You will need a portable drawing board, however this is not required for the first session, and the tutor will provide details of where this can be obtained.
